Tom celebrates over 35 years with Scott Laboratories. Prior to coming to Scott he earned a BS degree in Biology from Marquette University and worked as a microbiologist/chemist at Schlitz Brewing Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tom is involved with all products offered and enjoys the experiences of direct customer contact.

Peter has over twenty-five years of experience in the wine industry, beginning as a lab technician for Beringer Vineyards, where he eventually become the production manager. Peter transitioned to the other side of the desk in the mid-eighties with a jump to winery sales after a brief stint in the dairy business. He brings a wealth of experience in all aspects of wine production from the grape to the bottle.

Ira Cohen is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and was instrumental in establishing a viable wine program at the school. He joined Scott Labs in 2004 and has over 15 years of sales and management experience on the distribution side of the wine business.

Terry Dewane joined Scott Laboratories in 2011, bringing along 25 years of experience in the wine industry. Terry has a B.S. in Business Management from Rutgers University, but after a brief stint in strategic marketing at a major brewery he decided that the suit and tie corporate world was not for him. He followed his passion to Northern California to study Viticulture at UC Davis while working at Cakebread Cellars. Upon graduation, he spent several years in wine production before transitioning over to the supply side of the industry, primarily in cork sales. 


Bob Fithian

Bob began his career in the wine industry as sales administrator for Glass Container Corporation in 1968, a major producer of glass items for food, beverage and wine bottles. Eight years later he moved into outside customer sales covering all wine and mineral water glass accounts. In August of 1984, Bob joined Scott Laboratories, Inc. covering customer sales in the Napa Valley. His current responsibilities include the coordination of packaging sales for Scott working with our sales representatives, customers and suppliers, while handling large local account and national account responsibilities. Bob continues to enjoy his career in the wine industry finding it challenging and exciting.


Mollie Forest

After spending 10 years in the Internet industry, Mollie Forest became a part of Scott Laboratories prior to the 2009 harvest. A Washington state native, Mollie attended University of Washington and received a BS in business administration. Mollie has lived in Walla Walla with her family since 2005 and has developed a working knowledge of the many layers of the northwestern winemaking process.

Sigrid has a degree in Microbiology from McGill University in Montréal. She started in a quality control lab for homewine kit/juice company, Mosti Mondiale before working for Pelee Island Winery and then at last finding the calling of promoting yeast and bacteria in wine for Lallemand. This privately-owned Canadian company has seen her based in the Niagara region (Canada), and more recently near San Francisco where she misses the snow of the northeast, but makes up for it by walking dogs on the beach as often as possible. She shares a role as a technical sales representative for Lallemand North America and regional sales representative for Scott Labs.


Ron Hahn

Ron joined the Scott Laboratories sales team in early 2011 with ten years of experience in the wine industry. Shortly after attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to study viticulture and wine sales/marketing, he began his career in wine distribution with Young’s Market Company as a specialist in the fine wine division, The Estates Group. From wine distribution, Ron then transferred to the supply side of the industry in cork sales prior to joining Scott Labs. Ron currently resides in San Luis Obispo with his wife and enjoys painting, cooking and is an avid cyclist.

Jeff received his BS in food technology from Colorado State University. He has spent more than 25 years serving Scott Laboratories' customers by helping in solving fermentation, filtration, and processing challenges. Jeff is a hands-on salesman with particular skills in working with smaller customers. He currently resides in upper-state New York.

Megan joined Scott Laboratories in the spring of 2010. A Virginia native, she received her BS in Biology in 2001 and her MS in Food Microbiology in 2003, both from Virginia Tech. Prior to joining Scott Labs, Megan worked for Novozymes Biologicals for six years. She has also worked at two wineries in Virginia and looks forward to being more deeply involved with the East Coast wine industry.


Michael Jones

Michael came on board with Scott Laboratories in 2007 with over 35 years of winemaking experience under his belt. Since then he shared his wealth of knowledge with North America by traveling extensively to trade shows and seminars throughout the country, many times as a speaker. A UC Davis graduate, Michael has lived and worked in Burgundy, France and the Hunter Valley, Australia. Domestically, Michael built his experience at Novavine, Hanzell Vineyards and Caymus Vineyards. He also spent 19 years at Domaine Chandon where he put on a multitude of hats and was involved with the vineyards, operations, winemaking, laboratory and was part of the team that established the Wine Education program. Prior to his start in the wine industry, Michael spent a year traveling cross-country by freight train, stopping to work on a shrimp boat in the Gulf of Mexico, pitch hay in San Antonio and sell art in New Orleans.

Our northwest representative, Rick Mafit, has been working in the wine industry since 1980. With an Enology degree from UC Davis in 1981, Rick brings years of production experience to the Scott Laboratories team. Since joining Scott in 1990 he has grown with the burgeoning northwest wine scene. Today, Rick continues to offer expert advice from a regional perspective.

Kevin got his start in the wine industry while attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He began by working for several family-owned wineries, and then transitioned into wine distribution sales. After several years in the industry, Kevin became a part of Scott Laboratories after the 2004 harvest. Kevin lives in Clayton, CA with wife and two sons, where he regularly convinces his neighbors to roll up their pant legs and stomp grapes.

Martin hails from England where he worked in hard cider production. Arriving in California in 1994, he spent three years in quality control at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars before moving into sales. Martin came to Scott Laboratories in 2000 specializing in packaging sales. His blend of production, quality control and sales experience allows him serve to his clients well.
